For your well-being and the sake of the environment, we’ve made a selection of Kurma products and checked out their satisfaction guarantees.
The yoga industry, along with its consumers, bears a certain amount of responsibility when it comes to creating waste. Although there is no information available about the exact quantity of waste connected to yoga all over the world, one thing is for sure: millions of props are discarded every year by the estimated 300 million yoga practitioners.
Therefore …
Recycle your yoga mat!
Recycle your yoga props!
How?
Find the nearest recycling spot or check out Continuom Collective where used yoga mats and other yoga props can be recycled.
Kurma aims to reduce the vast environmental impact of yoga worldwide. With every Kurma product, we design our waste and keep the materials in use thanks to industrial recycling. That’s why all Kurma products are 100% recyclable.
Would you buy a yoga mat that is bad for your health or the environment? No way!
Kurma mats are certified according to the association’s Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
This is more important than you may think.
Since 2012, our German-made CORE Series PVC mats have been certified according to the association’s Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®, Product Class I (articles for babies and toddlers). During the development of our GECO Series rubber mats in 2020, we made sure that these new mats also met Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®, Product Class I certification.
The Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® list of criteria contains around 100 annually updated test parameters for harmful substances, including AZO, DOP, phthalates, Bisphenol-A (BPA), lead and dioxins.
Interestingly, the impact of the yoga industry on global warming has never been quantified: What is the CO2 emission of a yoga mat produced using energy from coal-fuelled power plants in Asia? What is the carbon footprint of a Kurma mat made in Europe – or the footprint of a cork block? We believe that the time has come for full transparency, and we are already working on obtaining scientific data to find answers to the questions above.
We aspire to produce carbon-neutral yoga mats and props.
